On July 12th 2025, a 60-year-old woman from Aa--- village, Noh T’Kaw village tract, Noh T’Kaw Township, Dooplaya District, stepped on a landmine while she and her daughter were collecting bamboo shoots in the forest near the State Administration Council (SAC) army camp of Infantry Battalion (IB) #283. This Situation Update describes events occurring in Dwe Lo, Bu Tho, and Lu Thaw townships, Mu Traw (Hpapun) District, in January, March, and April 2025. In January, one villager from Aa--- village, K’Tai Tee village tract, Dwe Lo Township, and four villagers (including a child) from Ab--- village, Kyaw Pa village tract, Bu Tho Township, were killed due to State Administration Council (SAC) indiscriminate air strikes in the area. On May 8th 2025, the State Administration Council (SAC)’s Infantry Battalion (IB) #32 fired a 120 mm shell into Aa--- village, Wa Mah village tract, that landed next to the house of a villager. During the reporting period, KHRG has received extensive information on SAC direct and indiscriminate drone and air strikes on villagers’ areas and their consequences on villagers’ lives; one of the largest reported issues since the 2021 coup. This Situation Update describes events occurring in Kruh Tuh Township, Dooplaya District, in April 2025, including shelling and air strikes, displacement, and challenges in accessing healthcare and education. On April 14th 2025, fighting broke out between the State Administration Council (SAC) troops and armed resistance groups along the Asian Highway, between Kaw T’Ree and Kruh Tuh towns. We train local CBO/CSOs, and ethnic armed organisations in human rights and international humanitarian law to help them prevent and document future abuses.
