RSS News Feed HelpIf you are interested in subscribing to the KHRG RSS News Feed for the latest news from khrg.org, but not quite sure how to or what all the RSS talk really means, please read this help page. What is RSS?RSS or "Really Simple Syndication" allows updated content from a website to be disributed to you as soon as it's released through a program called an RSS reader. Think of RSS as a notification system. By inputting an RSS feed URL into an RSS reader program, the reader program can display updated news from a website almost instantly. The RSS feed URL (looks like a website link) is designed to grab summary content from a website -- such as the news article's title, description and link to full article -- and pull it into your RSS reader. The distinct advantage of using an RSS reader in this way is that you can read the essence of many articles quickly on one page without having to search through a website. The RSS reader, sometimes called a news reader or aggregator, will help you save time and may also help you to find content you may have missed by searching through web pages. An RSS reader can handle many RSS feed URLs, allowing you to scan an array of websites' content all from one place. How do I start using feeds? All you need to start using feeds is an RSS reader program and an RSS feed URL. There are many RSS reader programs for Windows and Mac users. Also known as news readers or new aggregators, some RSS readers are designed to integrate with your web browser or email applications, and some RSS readers are standalone programs. No matter what you choose (see some options below), they all work in the same way: Input an RSS feed URL (looks like a regular website link but will include an .xml file extension) into the reader and the reader will feed content from that website to you. You may have seen icons on many web sites that look like these:
These images represent an RSS feed URL. Right click on that image and choose Copy Shortcut or Copy Link Location to copy that link, and then paste it into your RSS reader. With some readers, if you just click on an RSS link that link will be automatically added to your reader. Your reader will then bookmark that link so whenever you want to read updated content from a respective website, click the RSS link in your feeder and typically what you will receive is summary content (such as for news articles). If you want to read more than the summary, click on the name of the article to link to the full content at the website the feed came from.
