Photo #7: Villagers from Kywetalin village carting their rice supplies to Nyaun Gone, after being ordered to hand over their rice to the SLORC. SLORC troops then guard the rice, divided by family, and ration it back out a few days or months at a time. The villagers say the rations are never enough to feed their families.

Photos #9, 10: The remains of Kywetalin village; SLORC troops forced the villagers to dismantle their homes, then move out, in February 1993.

Photo #11: Thaun Pu village. After the SLORC forced the villagers to move to Nyaun Gone, one villager was so angry that he set fire to his own house when returning to get his belongings, just so not to leave anything for the SLORC to loot.

Photo #12: Thaun Pu abandoned primary school after the village was forced to move. The school was built by the villagers, and the SLORC sent teachers from Kyauk Kyi and Nat Than Gwin. However, even before the relocation the school was often closed because whenever SLORC troops were in the area, the teachers had to flee to avoid being taken as porters.
